Today, 19th October 2022, Warner Leisure Hotels officially opened Heythrop Park after a multi million pound refurbishment.
The opening ceremony of cutting the ribbon was undertaken by Enstone Parish Counsellor Richard Parker, attended by the Chair of Enstone Parish Council, Nikki Knott and General Manager of Heythrop Park, Dean Saunders. Many local parishioners attended the opening and were treated with welcome drinks, cakes and sandwiches. Guided tours of the hotel were undertaken and people were impressed at the high standards of design and decor.
The original house was built in 1710 by Charles Talbot, Duke of Shrewsbury. However, he died in 1718 and in 1831 a fire completely destroyed the fabric of the building. In 1870 railway engineer Thomas Brassey gave it to his son as a wedding gift and it was restored. In 1923 it became a Jesuit College, then in 1969 the National Westminster Bank turned it into a training and conference centre. In 1999 Firoz Kassam turned it into a Crown Plaza Hotel and in 2018 Warner started the refurbishment work.
